Spanish cuisine

Madrid cuisine is very special. Its residents like “callos” — blood sausage with spices and sauce.
The main dish of Meseta is vegetables (fried, stewed or boiled) and beans. The residents of Meseta raise pigs and feed them chestnuts and acorns. They also  love game dishes.
The specialty of Castilla La Mancha, described by Cervantes in “Don Quixote”, is the boiled meat with vegetables, salad and pork scratching with fried egg.

Basque Country, famous for its “home” dishes: “marmitaco” (mackerel with potato) and “changurro” (crabmeat with clams). Basques also love “bacalao al pil-pil” (cod with garlic sauce), “kokotxas” (pike fins and eels) and various clams, such as boiled octopus (“pulpo a feira”).

The residents of northern provinces love bean and dairy products and delicious home-made cheese. Home-made dishes are famous for their taste and quality.

The natural food (fruits and vegetables) from the regions La Rioja and Navarra is very tasty. The favorite dishes of these regions are “pimientos rellenos” (stuffed peppers). The main desserts are fruits in chocolate and white buns. The best sweets are “turron” (halva) and flour dishes – this is the heritage of Arab cuisine.

Andalusia cuisine is the combination of dishes of various countries.

For example, the cold soup “gazpacho” appeared in Andalusia. The method popular all over the world (deep-frying meat or vegetables) also emerged in this country. Olive oil is made in southern Spain.

The dish, popular in the south, is called “pescaitos fritos” (small fried fishes). They are eaten whole. Another famous delicacy is “pinchos morunos” (skewered kebabs) and different pork dishes.

Spanish cuisine is very diverse and tasty. Classic dishes are also good here.

Try the Spanish omelet (“tortilla”) and pork sausage (“chorizo”) Other tasty dishes are: smoked ham (“jamon serrano”), sheep’s cheese (“queso manchego”).

If you sit at one table with the Spaniards, wish them health and say “chin-chin” while clinking glasses. It will help you to be closer to the Spanish people!
