Segovia as a popular tourist destination

People travelling to Spain, or rather its’ heart– Madrid, might be interested in visiting another popular tourist destination. Segovia is located 90 km from Madrid and represents an ancient city on the rocky plateau Meseta. The largest region of Spain hospitably invites the tourists to plunge into the atmosphere of old times and culture of different countries. Here you can find the Spanish, Arabic, Roman and Visigoth antiquities. In 1985 Segovia was declared the World Heritage of UNESCO.

Arriving in Segovia, you feel the historical atmosphere of its environment. The city has a lot of well-preserved monuments of different ages (especially in the old art of the city). Roman Acqueduct is a sort of “calling card” of this large beautiful open-air museum. Segovia was built almost 3000 years ago. The main attraction of this city is Alcazar Castle, built to the top of a huge rock. It was created by the ancient Romans. It’s been a long time since it happened, and the palace has repeatedly changed its appearance, and its name changed as well. The palace was connected to the city by the direct route and the underground mazes, whose existence was a great secret.

It becomes popular to celebrate the Castilian holidays in Segovia. Public festivals, bullfights, concerts and parades related to the certain holiday, are no longer unusual in Segovia. There you can also taste the national dishes the Spaniards are proud of. The local restaurants are ready to welcome every tourist.

If you want to plunge into the ancient world, you should visit Segovia and get an unforgettable experience!
