Truffle is one of the most popular Italian delicacies. People like to eat it with a cup of coffee, add to different dishes, and even spread it on the bread like a peanut butter. Not everyone likes the unusual smell and taste of this sweet, but the fans of truffle are ready to buy it for big money and enjoy it every day!
What is “truffle” how is it made?
“Truffle” is a certain sort of mushroom, considered precious delicacies. People use dogs to find and obtain them, as their excellent sense of smell allows finding it under the ground. After finding the mushroom, the miner carefully digs up a precious fruit that will serve for making the delicacy.
Types of truffle
There are many types of truffle, but the most popular ones are white and black.
White truffle is the least widespread, and therefore the most precious type of truffle. It has excellent taste, so it’s often served in the restaurants as a complement to meat and fish dishes, fruits and desserts.
Black truffle is a very popular Spanish delicacy. It must be stored in the cold place so that it keeps its taste and smell. This type of truffles is also served with meat and poultry dishes or made on the grill. You can try this delicacy only in the best and the most expensive restaurants of Madrid (Santceloni, Baluarte, La Tasquita de Enfrente, etc.), as the truffles are the dessert for the elite!
Useful properties of truffle
Apart from excellent taste and smell, this product also has a lot of useful properties. Truffle contains a lot of protein, zinc and vitamins РР, В1 and В2 and considered a strong aphrodisiac. Truffles can be considered dietetic product due to its low calorie content and the fact that it is prepared with little oil, steamed or grilled.
Storage of truffle
As truffle has a limited shelf life, you should taste them fresh. They must be stored in the fridge, preferably in a glass jar or a tightly shut container (their shelf life is up to 4 days).
