What to do in the surroundings of Valencia?

In Valencia you can not just lay in the sun, swim and explore the local color. There is also something to do around the town:

  1. Climb Garbi. Valencia spreads out in the plain, surroundings by the mountains. The most famous peak mountain La Sierra Calderona is Garbi. From the height of 600 m you can admire the beautiful view of the sea and harbor. Here you can see the cyclists and runners and try excellent paella in the local cafeteria.
  2. Walk through the cave San Jose. The largest underground river of Europe flows in the huge cave of San Jose (by the way, it is also navigable). If you buy an excursion to the cave San Jose, you can see the oddly-shaped stalactites, high groves and float down the underground river.
  3. Water procedures are located in the valley Pou Clar. The beautiful fresh waters spread out in the emerald mountains around Valencia. Pou Clar literally translates as “clean pool”, as the local water is cool and very pure. Here you can also arrange a romantic picnic and admire the local beauties.
  4. Meditation in the park Desierto de Las Palmas. This natural park is surrounded by the mountains and offers a picturesque view of the sea. There is no better place for privacy and meditation. Even though the name of the park contains the word “dessert”, it is not literal, as it mostly related to the distance of the place from the fussy city.
  5. Visit the safari park Aitana. In this beautiful park the animals walk quietly, without being ashamed of the crowd. The visitors move and watch the animals from the car. You should come here at 11 or 15, when the animals eat. Children like to watch the donkeys, giraffes and funny hippos eating the watermelon.
  6. Visit the colorful ponds in Torrevieja. Many of our fellow citizens live here. In Torrevieja there are so many restaurants with the menu in Russian, and you can hear this language everywhere. For this reason, Torrevieja is considered the unofficial Russian-speaking capital of Spain. Here you can see the beautiful lakes: emerald lake Salada de la Mata and pink lake Salinas de Torreviejas. Bathing here is prohibited, but that doesn’t stop some people, as the local salt water is very good for the health.
  7. Swim in the waterfall of Algar. The waterfall of Algar are very beautiful and refreshing, especially on a hot day. The walk along the thunderous waterfalls with beautiful views will give you unforgettable feelings and distract you from the urban fuss. After that, you can taste delicious paella or fish stew in the local cafe.
