Spanish taxi: the first trip on vacation

People who prefer travelling by plane, start any vacation with the airport. It is natural that airport is only the first point. After that, you must get to the hotel and start exploring the country. In Madrid, you can travel from the airport to the hotel in different ways: by metro, bus, train or taxi. The first three are cheaper and quite suitable for the journeys around the town, if you don’t have a heavy luggage.
As for the first trip through this “gold” city, taxi is just the thing you need.

You must not be afraid of the price of taxi ride. Firstly, Spain is not the most expensive country, and compared to the Russian (especially Moscow) prices, taxi ride won’t seem costly. Secondly, there is such magic word as “competition”. It helps the tourists save money, as fighting for the customers, many taxis offer very attractive prices. If you travel in company or with family, the travel to the hotel will cost you from 30 to 40 euro, depending on the type of car. If you divided this sum into four, it turns out really cheap.

You can find a car near the airport (it’s a lot of them there) or order it by phone. The first option is more expensive (as well as everything in such “popular” places as the airport). The second option is more difficult, as you can find a phone. However, if you’re the kind of person that likes to plan everything in advance (especially the rest in Spain), you can order a taxi even from your homeland, using Internet. Ordering this service in advance, you can be sure that the taxi will wait for you, and you won’t have to run with the heavy bags and think how to get out of here. Spain has a lot of driving companies, but not all of them have a good reputation. If you don’t want to be cheated, you contact only the well-known firms. You can find the prices for taxi rides on a printout on the inside of the taxi door. You should compare them to the odometer values: they must coincide. At your request, the driver must give you a cheque (for example, if you have to present it at work to get a compensation for travel). If the driver refuses to give you a cheque, you must not pay for the ride.
