In Spain, football is much more than just a game. The Spaniards are great fans of football.  For some of them, it’s almost a religion. Week by week, millions of Spaniards gather in the local bars and passionately watch their favorite football teams. At this moment, the life seems to stop in Spain. The streets become empty during an important game.
Spain has a great football legacy, which is probably exceeded only by England and Italia. The name of such players as: Raul, Casillas and Puyol always appear on the sports pages throughout the world.

It is a passion for men, women and children of all ages.  The people who come from the other countries, where football is not so popular, may find it very strange, while for the Spaniards (according to one TV commercial): “football is life”!

Football club “Real Madrid” is a registered sports association, which has its own center, based in the capital of Spain- Madrid. It was founded in 1902, and has since become one of the most famous and successful clubs in the world. According to the statistics, it has more title than any other football club.
“Real Madrid” was the first club who won the Europe Cup, and the only team that did it five times in a row. It has more than 5000 official titles, 75 of which are recognized by UEFA.

Its classic opponent is “Barcelona” (“Real Madrid” plays all seasons with this team), and “Atletico de Madrid”, with which it challenges the famous “Madrid derby”.
“Real Madrid” has more than 85000 partners who support it, as it is one of the few football club in the Spanish league, which is not a corporation. From an economic perspective, the club is valued at 951 million euro ($1285 million) and earns about 350 million euro for a season.
The famous stadium “Santiago Bernabeu” is also a property of the club. It was opened on the 14th of December 1947 and located in the famous “Paseo de la Castellana” in Madrid with a capacity of more than 80 354 viewers. In 2010, the stadium welcomed the final part of Champions League.
