Antonio Gaudi: Barcelona and its architect

On June 12 1926 года thousands of people gathered in the streets of Barcelona to pay final respects to the great and unusual architect.
The funeral procession moved towards “Sagrada Familia” (“Holy Family”) – the cathedral that became the greatest work of the master of modern architecture. The name of person who was praised in the national Catalan songs (when he was still alive), was Antonio Gaudi.

Most of his works decorated the streets of Barcelona. One comfortable half-day walk is enough to see and enjoy all of them. The route of such walk is easy to make, and it always includes Park Güell, some dwellings, built by the master, Palacio Güell (Güell Palace), Casa Battlo (Battlo House) and Casa Mila (Mila House)- perhaps, the most famous house, created by the genius Gaudi.

The walk through Barcelona is a way to Gaudi, who created the face of the city as a landscape architect, decorator, urban planner and artist. Gaudi became a symbol of Spanish architecture, as his style became an integral part of the history of this country: the mixture of Arab and Christian cultural influences ad traditions.
