Every employee likes being rewarded for a good work. Tip is the best way to thank the staff and motivate them to work even better in future.
In Spain, there are some unwritten rules on tip. People usually don’t leave large sums (for example, if you spent 40-50 euro, you should leave 2-3 euro). However, if you have dinner in the expensive restaurant, you should leave at least 10-20 euro (of course, if the serving was really qualitative).
The Spaniards often visit cafes during the lunch break to order “menu of the day” that costs 10-15 euro, leave 1 euro for tip. If you just came over for coffee, 20 centimes will be enough.
